Gets you very close to the animals. Some times the cats will just follow you around. Even the bicious panther is adorable. But best of all there not just buying them like zoos. When you put your money in their box your helping hurt and endangered animals get ready to possibly be released back into the wild!
I volunteer there. Sue Arnold does God's work. I know how well she tends the place because of what has been expected of me as a volunteer. BTW, if you visit there MAY be someone to take you around. This is more likely if you call ahead first. If I am there during the school's winter holidays, I will offer to take you around myself. I was just visiting Sue yesterday, not there to work, but I saw a family, two parents and a kid of about ten and I offered to take them around. Once more, it felt good to be of service.
As someone who has worked in conservation and closely with exotics, from what I could tell the animals were healthy and well cared for. They had some very interesting species here. Some enclosures were a bit outdated for my comfort, with concrete floors and minimal sizing. As they work with FWCC I'd assume the enclosures meet standards though. Animals were provided enrichment items from what I saw. With a little more donations and funding this place has potential to be great. Worth a visit if only to support and donate to the animals wellbeing.
This woman, Sue, is the most kind, caring, animal loving woman. I sadly had to find a new home for my cat and through all the stress of the process she opened her home to my baby girl. She reassured me that everything is going well in addition to caring for some many different species of animals. She's the only person I trusted to turn to and certainly did not let me down. If I could give 10 stars for this rating I would. Love this place and the people who make it all happen!
We were able to get a guided tour. They don't ask for money but donations are very much appreciated. They were wonderful. It was as if we were family by the time we left. Feeding time was the most fun.
